Axis Air Celebrates Grand Opening and Welcomes the Historic DC-3 Mainliner to Oxnard Airport

A New Chapter for Aviation in Ventura County

On June 27, Axis Air proudly celebrated its Grand Opening at Oxnard Airport (KOXR) while welcoming the historic DC-3 Mainliner to its new home.

The event brought together members of the local aviation community, families of our staff, supporters of the DC-3, and visitors from throughout the region for a day dedicated to aviation, history, and community.

The celebration featured facility tours, opportunities to explore the aircraft, and a chance to learn more about the future of Axis Air.

For many attendees, the event marked their first opportunity to experience Ventura County’s newest fixed-base operator (FBO) and see firsthand the vision behind Axis Air.

Axis Air Opens at Oxnard Airport

Axis Air was founded on the belief that exceptional aviation service should be both welcoming and professional. Located at Oxnard Airport, our mission is to provide a superior experience for pilots, passengers, aircraft owners, and operators through responsive service, operational efficiency, and genuine hospitality.

Whether you’re flying a corporate jet, a family aircraft, or a training flight, Axis Air is committed to making every arrival and departure seamless. From fueling and aircraft parking to concierge support and hangar services, our goal is to be a trusted aviation partner for every mission.

As we continue to invest in our facilities, team, and services, we’re building more than an FBO—we’re creating a destination where aviation enthusiasts, operators, and the local community can come together.

The Historic DC-3 Mainliner Finds a New Home

One of the highlights of the Grand Opening was the arrival of the iconic DC-3 Mainliner.

Few aircraft have had a greater impact on aviation history than the Douglas DC-3. First introduced in the 1930s, the aircraft transformed commercial air travel by providing greater reliability, comfort, and efficiency than previous passenger aircraft. Its enduring legacy helped shape the modern airline industry and cemented the DC-3’s reputation as one of the most important aircraft ever built.

Today, the DC-3 remains a symbol of the golden age of aviation. Its timeless design, distinctive sound, and remarkable history continue to inspire pilots and aviation enthusiasts around the world.

Axis Air is honored to serve as the aircraft’s new home and to help preserve its legacy for future generations.

Bringing the Aviation Community Together

The Grand Opening was more than a celebration of a new FBO—it was a gathering of people who share a passion for aviation.

We were honored to welcome local pilots, airport partners, aviation enthusiasts, members of the DC-3 community, friends, families, and supporters from across Southern California. Their enthusiasm and encouragement reinforced our belief that Oxnard Airport is an exceptional place to grow aviation, preserve history, and build meaningful connections.

The day’s conversations, stories, and shared experiences reflected exactly what Axis Air hopes to become: a welcoming hub for aviation in Ventura County.

Looking Ahead

We have exciting plans ahead for the DC-3 Mainliner, including future flight opportunities, community events, educational experiences, and special programs that celebrate aviation history. The enthusiasm we saw at the Grand Opening reaffirmed just how much interest exists in preserving and sharing this remarkable aircraft.

For those who were unable to attend—or who are interested in future flight experiences aboard the Mainliner—we encourage you to stay connected by joining our newsletter list as additional events and opportunities are announced.
