Matt Johnston

Owner

Matt is a longtime member of the aviation community at Oxnard Airport. A private pilot for more than 15 years, Matt has lived in the Ventura County area for over two decades and has maintained his own aircraft hangar at Oxnard Airport for many years. His firsthand experience as both a pilot and aircraft owner shapes his vision for Axis Air: a welcoming, service-focused FBO built around efficiency, professionalism, and genuine hospitality.

Matt has long been involved in the regional aviation community, serving on the board of the Camarillo Wings Association, the organization behind the annual Wings Over Camarillo at Camarillo Airport. In addition to leading Axis Air, he serves as President of California Aeronautical University, which was founded in Ventura County more than a decade ago and operates from Axis Air, helping prepare the next generation of pilots and aviation professionals.

Through his leadership at Axis and his work in aviation education and community engagement, Matt remains committed to strengthening aviation across Ventura County and the Central Coast.

Heather Fallis

Director of Aviation Resources

Heather Fallis serves as Director of Aviation Resources at Axis Air and plays a key role in supporting operations. With extensive experience in the general aviation industry, Heather brings deep operational knowledge and a strong commitment to exceptional service.

Before joining Axis, Heather spent many years with Atlantic Aviation, where she served as a manager and developed significant experience overseeing FBO operations and supporting a wide range of aircraft owners, crews, and passengers. Her background in ground operations, customer service, and aviation logistics helps ensure that Axis Air delivers the efficient, welcoming experience pilots and operators expect.

Heather’s long-standing career in general aviation and her hands-on understanding of FBO operations make her an integral part of the team and its mission to provide reliable service and hospitality to the aviation community.

Mazi Sarahang

Director of Aviation Services

Mazi Sarahang serves as Director of Aviation Services at Axis Air, bringing extensive hands-on experience across aircraft maintenance, flight operations, and aviation services. With a career spanning more than 20 years, Mazi holds an FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic certificate with Inspection Authorization, as well as a Commercial Multi-Engine Pilot certificate with Instrument Rating.

Mazi’s background includes work in general aviation, flight training environments, and Part 91 and Part 135 operations, along with experience in aerospace engineering. His comprehensive understanding of both aircraft systems and flight operations allows him to oversee aviation services at Axis Air with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and reliability.

Born in Los Angeles and raised in Ventura County, Mazi has been an active pilot in the region for over two decades. As an aircraft owner with a hangar at Santa Paula Airport, he brings a firsthand perspective on the needs of aircraft owners and operators. His deep local roots and broad aviation expertise make him a key leader in delivering the high standard of service and operational excellence at Axis Air.

From our line service team, who are Avfuel Training System (ATS) Fuel Safety certified and use Total Control SystemsTM for accurate and reliable fuel measurements, to our safety management system that manages safety risk company-wide, every detail is handled with precision and care.

We prioritize secure operations, uphold FAA and airport safety standards, and maintain a clean, controlled environment for passengers, pilots, and aircraft.

Home to the douglas dc3

mainliner o’connor

The Mainliner O’Connor, a 1945 Douglas DC-3, beautifully restored by Clay Lacy, departed from its longstanding home in Van Nuys (KVNY) to begin a new era at Axis Air in Oxnard (KOXR).

Now owned by DC3 Mainliners LLC and operated by California Aeronautical University, this historic aircraft will continue to inspire and educate the next generation of aviation enthusiasts.
